Alla Prima Still Life Painting Class

Painting Class

Thursdays 2-5pm

Oct. 12th to Nov. 2nd
Please register by Oct. 10th

Come learn oil Alla Prima techniques for painting. Alla Prima means paintings done in one session. Noah will teach the use of plumb lines, comparative measurement, and tilt angle to find correct proportions. Noah will show how he mixes colours and talk about how he thinks about colour when painting. Working from your own setup you will learn how to start your painting, see and record shapes clearly and simply, and model form by carefully observing the properties of light.

You will work on a new painting each class.

This class will take part alongside the cast drawing class at the academy.

Lots of demos and individual instruction!

Student comments

"I have taken both portrait painting and drawing from Noah Layne and found him to be not only a brilliant artist but an exceptional teacher. He is both kind and patient but most importantly I have noticed an improvement in my skill level. I intend to take more classes from him."
