techniques for painting the portrait. In this
class there will be one, four week long pose. Noah
will show you classical techniques for painting a
realistic portrait. Noah will teach the use of
plumb lines, comparative measurement, and tilt
angle to find correct proportions. Noah will show
how he mixes colours and talk about how he thinks
about colour when painting. You will learn how to
start your painting, see and record shapes clearly
and simply, and model form by carefully observing
the properties of light.
You will work on one painting over the four week
Week one: Students will work with a limited
palette of colours, working on proportion and
Week two to four: Students will work with a
full colour palette refining their painting.
Noah will live stream
his demo to start the class. Students will work
at home from a portrait photo that will be
emailed to each student. Students will email
photos of their work in progress during the
class and Noah will critique and help each
student on the live stream.
You need an internet connection and a computer,
laptop or tablet to watch as well as a cell phone
with a camera or a digital camera to take pictures
of your work and email them to me during the
