In this class Noah
will show how he goes about starting and
finishing a still life painting.
Noah will demonstrate his process of creating a
still life painting: sharing his technique and
thoughts about painting and art.
- setting up the still life
- lighting
- shapes and how they relate to each other
- under-painting
- form painting
You will work on one painting in the class
Noah will teach the use of plumb lines,
comparative measurement, and tilt angle to find
correct proportions. Noah will show how he mixes
colours and talk about how he thinks about
colour when painting. Working from your own
setup you will learn how to start your painting,
see and record shapes clearly and simply, and
model form by carefully observing the properties
of light.
Noah will live stream his demo to start the
class. Students will work at home from their own
setup. Students will email photos of their work
in progress during the class and Noah will
critique and help each student on the live
stream.
You need an internet connection and a computer,
laptop or tablet to watch as well as a cell
phone with a camera or a digital camera to take
pictures of your work and email them to me
during the class!
